How to Solve a 3x3 Rubik’s Cube: Step-by-Step Beginner’s Guide

December 6, 2025 by

‎The Rubik’s Cube is one of the most popular puzzles in the world. At first, it may seem impossible to solve, but with the right method and a little practice, anyone can do it. In this guide, you’ll learn the easiest step-by-step method  to solve the standard 3x3 Rubik’s Cube.

Step 1: Learn the Basics

‎Before starting, you should know a few things:

‎A 3x3 Rubik’s Cube has 6 faces: white, yellow, blue, green, red, and orange.

‎The center pieces never move, so they decide the color of that face.

‎The goal is to make each face one solid color.

‎Step 2: Solve the White Cross

‎Choose the white face as your starting point.

‎Make a plus sign (cross) with the white edge pieces.

‎Match the side colors with the center pieces.

‎Tip: Focus on one piece at a time.

Step 3: Solve the White Corners

‎Place the white corner pieces (which have three colors) into the correct position.

‎Rotate the bottom layer until the corner matches, then bring it up.

‎After this step, the entire white face should be solved.

Step 4: Solve the Middle Layer Edges

‎Now fix the four edge pieces in the middle layer.

‎Use simple algorithms (Right Trigger / Left Trigger moves) to position them correctly.

Step 5: Make a Yellow Cross

‎On the top (yellow) face, first form a yellow cross.

‎Use the algorithm: F R U R' U' F' until the yellow cross appears.

Step 6: Solve the Yellow Corners

‎Position the yellow corners correctly using the algorithm: U R U' L' U R' U' L.

‎You may need to repeat until all corners are in the right place.

Step 7: Solve the Final Layer

‎Finally, orient the last layer corners and edges.

‎Use the algorithm: R U R' U R U2 R' until all the yellow pieces are solved.

‎Congratulations! You’ve solved the Rubik’s Cube!
